Fishing sunglasses

One of America’s favorite pastimes is fishing and one of the hardest things on your eyes is the glare from water.  That is why it is so important to have the right sunglasses while relaxing in the sun with your rod and reel.  Protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays should be your number one priority and there are a number of great fishing sunglasses on the market to do just that.

You want fishing sunglasses that offer 100% UV protection as a minimum.  Now there is no perfect pair for all weather conditions so you will likely have to have multiple pairs or have eyewear that allows for interchangeable lenses.  Proper lens color will increase your fishing performance.  Brands that offer great eyewear include Serengeti, Costa Del Mar, Eddie Bauer and Maui Jims to name a few.

Lens color is the most important feature of your sunglasses.  For sight fishing, early morning or evening conditions, choose a low light, high contrast lens such as amber or copper colored.  For open water or mid day light where conditions are bright, choose a general purpose or mirrored lens for the best protection from glare.  Remember, protecting your eyes should be your first priority.  Good luck.
